I know the summer holidays are over because:
- After spending the summer in flip-flops, I now have a whacking big blister on my heel from my brand new ‘school shoes.’
- Ironing smart work shirts takes so much longer than ironing T-Shirts.
- Whenever I wake up in the night I double check that I have set the alarm clock.
- Saturday and Sunday, once again, take on an almost mythical importance.
- Visitor numbers to my (this) website have gone up, as you search the site for ideas, resources and worksheets. (You’re welcome – I hope you find something of use)
I hope you had a great summer holiday (I did) and I hope you are excited and enthused by the new term (I am.)
I’d love to hear what you’d add to my list above, meanwhile, I’m off to find a plaster for that blister …

And not forgetting more traffic on the road. Plus more passengers on public transport during the morning and evening rush hours with less likelihood of getting a seat!
Also the house stays tidier because the children have less time to create chaos!
Very true Andrea, although my son (just started in year 7) now leaves a trail of homework books across the house (when asked why he hasn’t put them away he replies “I left it out so that you (or mum, delete as appropriate) could see it”!!!
